Author Journey

I am confident that when I told friends and family "I wrote a book," most didn't give it a second thought. It's not something they would have expected to hear from me. I am not artistic, musical or creative. Or at least, I thought I wasn't. However, many years ago, when my children were similar in age to the protagonist in Hurricane Julie, I did indeed create the story. At that time, I wrote it as a screenplay. I even took a screenplay class in NYC and bought The Screenwriter's Bible. Fast forward 20+ years and it was time to fulfill a lifelong dream to write a book. I contemplated plot after plot, but came back to this story. I had the characters, well most of them. I had the plot, well most of it. Now I just needed to fill in the gaps.

Of course, it ended up being far more work than that. New characters, new plot lines, more villains, a twist here and a turn there. A different ending and a whole lot more detail. And that's how we got here.

I was born and raised in a suburb of NY City, raised my family in Stamford CT, then migrated to Florida and now Texas. After graduating from Boston College, I began a career of 40+ years in financial services retiring in January 2024. Along the way, I picked up an MBA from Fordham University.

I am the father to two adult children and a husband of 38 years to my beautiful wife. No grandchildren yet!

I imagine your mid 60s is kind of late in life to publish your first novel, but here I am. It's a new passion. I can only golf so much and pickleball - well let's just say my knees know better than to go down that path. So now my new passion is writing. I hope I get to publish more than one novel. Time will tell.
